About Me
I'm Dara Oliver Andia, a Brazilian filmmaker and screenwriter. I graduated in Film and Audiovisual from the State University of Paraná (Unespar) and I'm currently doing a master's degree in film at Queen's University Belfast, but my history with cinema began long before that. Ever since I was a child, when people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always the same: "I want to be a director."
Well, I've grown up. And here I am!
The experience of directing short films like Tinto and 1.5, or writing and directing my documentary Piracicaba Nunca Esqueceu, was more than a professional achievement, it was a reunion with myself.
Every bit of me goes on screen. After all, I chose a profession where you have to overflow, and overflow a lot.
I have experience in assistant directing, editing, script development and further training in cultural production. I've also taken part in academic research programmes in the field of audiovisual preservation. My work moves between the documentary and the fictional, with deep involvement in every stage of creation. But above all, my commitment is to the truth of what is felt.
